Pictiúr na Míosa: Maireann croí éadrom i bhfad

Seo grianghraf a ghlac mé ar na mallaibh sa Cheathrú Ghaeltachta i mBéal Feirste. Múrphictiúr ar an Bhalla Idirnáisiúnta atá ann leis an spotsholas a chur ar dheonú orgán. Tá an gasúr óg sa phictiúr, Dáithí Mac Gabhann, ag fanacht ar chroí nua agus tá a thuismitheoirí ar a ndícheall ag iarraidh daoine a chur ar an eolas faoin cheist tábhachtach seo.

Ansin, agus mé sa Chultúrlann maidin inné, chonaic mé an phoiblíocht is déanaí san fheachtas seo, preabmheirge a bhaineann feidhm as seanfhocal, ar dhóigh chruthaitheach, le misneach an ghasúir óig seo a léiriú. Maireann croí éadrom i bhfad an nathán seanbhunaithe atá i gceist agus is breá liom an casadh úr atá déanta ar an seanfhocal sa phictiúr thíos anseo.

This is a photograph I took recently in the Gaeltacht Quarter in Belfast. It is a mural on the International Wall to highlight organ donation. The young boy in the picture, Dáithí Mac Gabhann, is waiting on a new heart and his parents are doing their best to make public aware of this important issue.

Then, when I was in the Cultúrlann the other day, I saw the latest publicity in this campaign, a pop-up banner which uses a proverb, in a creative way, to illustrate this young boy’s courage. A light heart lives long is the long-established proverb and I like the new twist made to the proverb in the picture below.
